What is Record Restriction?

Record restriction limits public access to certain criminal history records.

  • Records are not visible to most employers or landlords
  • Records are not deleted
  • Records remain accessible to law enforcement and courts

Possible Eligibility

You may be eligible for record restriction in situations such as:

  • Charges dismissed
  • Charges nolle prossed
  • Not guilty findings
  • Successful completion of First Offender

Arrest On or After July 1, 2013

Record restriction requests must be directed to the
District Attorney’s Office.

Arrest Before July 1, 2013

You must begin the process with the arresting agency.

The arresting agency will process the request and forward it for review as required by law.
