Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 20-2-690.2, the Alapaha Judicial Circuit coordinates the Student Attendance and School Climate Committees for Atkinson, Berrien, Clinch, Cook, and Lanier Counties.

These committees bring together representatives from the courts, schools, law enforcement, juvenile justice agencies, DFCS, mental health providers, and community organizations to develop and implement protocols designed to improve school attendance, address school climate concerns, and support students and families.

Committee Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain county attendance and school climate protocols.
  • Promote collaboration among schools, courts, law enforcement, and community agencies.
  • Identify barriers to school attendance and educational success.
  • Develop strategies and resources to support students and families.
  • Review and update protocols as needed to ensure compliance with state law.
